Thank you for your kind Mon, 21 Feb 2000 request that I advise you where my Lyles ancestors came from, and for informing me that some of the names of my ancestors fit your chart from Alexandria. Virginia.
Please send me your "chart from Alexandria. Virginia" and anything else you can about this Lyles family. I would like to know more so I can help disseminate and preserve its genealogy and history.
According to "Mills' Statistics". "The first settlement of Fairfield District took place about the year 1745. Colonel John Lyles and his brother, Ephraim , were among the first settlers. They located at the mouth of Beaver Creek, on Broad River. Ephraim Lyles was killed by Indians in his own house; but by a wonderful interposition of Povidence, the Indians went off and left Lyles' seven or eight children and his wife in it, after killing a Negro on the outside. The Lyles were native of Brunswick, Va., but moved to this county from Buis County, (?) N.C."
According to a chart Victoria <VABrannon@aol.com> emailed me, my great great great great great grandfather Ephraim 1720 - Abt. 1755 and his brother Colonel John Lyles were sons of JOHN LYLES (Abt. 1695 - Aft. 1762) and Anne Abt. (1698 - Abt. 1797).
Until Victoria <VABrannon@aol.com> wrote me, all I knew was that I am a descendant of Nancy B. (Baxter?) LYLES (1812 -1895) and "Manus" (Arromanus Lyles). I modified Victoria's chart to include Nancy B. Lyles' descendants, and posted it at https://members.tripod.com/~nl/CHARTL.htm Is that where you found it?
Victoria is a descendant of Millie Lyles, but has not yet been
able to trace her kinship to my Lyles ancestor Ephraim. Millie
lived in the same area (Beaver Creek) where Ephraim settled.
Please help Victoria if you can. She may be able to help you more
than I can. Victoria's daughter

Dear Stewart,
As requested, I am sending you my genealogy, thus far. I do
have further information on children, listed under some of the
names, but didn't go into that as yet. I did contact the lady you
suggested, and hope to hear from her. I also visited her site,
and printed all her data to put into a file for further
research.
Thanks for your speedy reply, and hope this listing may be of help to you. I still have unattached members in Alexandria, that are members of the family, but until I get all the rest of the family members names, i.e., the children of Thomas C. Lyles, I can't attach them, that's where I've found an Arromanus andd an Ephraim. It would take me quite awhile to find that as it's all just copies of documents, and not filed with as much organization as it should be. But both those Lyles names did appear in Alexandria, and both are unusual names!

I'm very new to sending this data out, so hope you can figure
this out for yourself as I'm quite new to this swapping.
Hopefully I'll get better with time. I have census records and
the like to the two men in your line that will eventually fit
into mine...but until I know the other children of Thomas C.
Lyles, I won't be able to put them on the right place on the
chart. I was told by a professional genealogist who was teaching
my Elderhostel Class in genealogy that at this time and place,
all Lyles that were white in Alexandria, at the time of my people,
were almost certainly part of my family somehow.
